Hello and welcome to another episode of me having to spell check “bouquet” each time I write it. I picked this name. I thought about it long and hard. I guess I’m a self-sabotaging gal, but this is not about that. It’s not even about flowers (surprised Pikachu face).
On a sunny day that seemed warm enough, I went out for a walk. I was, of course, unprepared for the strong wind. I forget where I live sometimes.
My destination of choice these days is the park. I already know how it looks in summer, fall and winter - now it was time to see spring in action. The grass wasn’t as green as I was hoping and there were no blossoms in sight. I took the road between the bushes where I could explore more. Manifest yourself to me, spring!
A little detour: up until recently, I preferred taking photos with a wide-angle lens. I read about all these famous photographers shooting in 35mm and wanted to be like them. My first DSRL kit came with a telephoto zoom lens. I could not see the point in it so I sold it. Instead, I purchased a 24mm pancake lens and a 50mm, which I barely used for years.
Perhaps it’s my worsened eyesight, but when I use the wide-angle lens now I feel that I can’t see anything. Perhaps iPhones are to blame because of their 2x lens. In any case, I find myself wanting to get closer to things. So I use the 50mm a lot, and then crop my photos a little more. It’s so silly. I obviously need a new macro lens.
Sometimes the world seems realer when I look at it through the viewfinder. Even if I could not see anything worth of notice with my naked eye, I pointed my camera towards trees. And my god, I found signs of alien life.
We associate spring with beauty but I imagine we never bothered to look up close. It’s kind of scary. Weird, at least. I will show you.
I then looked at the ground. With daisies for eyes, maybe I am the alien.
